The creator of The Bachelor allegedly attacked and injured his pregnant, estranged wife — after demanding she get an abortion?
According to legal documents obtained by The Blast on Tuesday, Laura Fleiss filed an emergency domestic violence restraining order against Mike Fleiss over an alleged incident earlier this month.
Per the papers, the 2012 Miss America winner — who said she is about 10 weeks pregnant with the couple’s second child — claimed her reality TV honcho ex demanded she get an abortion.
The docs read:
“While we were at our house in Kauai, Mike demanded that I get an abortion. Our [4-year-old] son Ben was in the house, seated in another room nearby. Mike told me, ‘If you have an abortion, then we can just go back to the way we were.’”
However, Laura alleges the argument over the topic of her pregnancy escalated over several days — until the producer violently attacked her!
“While Mike has frequently been verbally abusive towards me during our marriage, in recent weeks, he has become enraged, due to the fact I am pregnant with our second child. Mike told me many times that he did not want us to have a second child. He also repeatedly told me throughout our marriage, and prior to our marriage, that he knew he would ‘have to have’ one child with me because I was 26-years-old when we got married, did not yet have any children, and he knew I wanted to have a family. Mike, however, being 55 years old, did not want to have more than one child together.’”
The 31-year-old said her ex “continued to threaten me, demanding to see bank statements showing I paid for an abortion and the flight information to and from Oahu for the medical procedure.”
The next day, on July 5th:
“I tried to go into another room to call my mother. Mike refused to let me go and made threats that I would lose access to my family and my family’s ability to see Ben. Mike said, ‘You aren’t going to see your mother for the next two-to-three years. You need to call [your mom] right now and tell her this.’ I was terrified. Then he forced me to call my mother from my cell phone while he was standing and watching me in the room. When I called my mother, Mike then grabbed the phone and began angrily lecturing my mother. He told her I was getting an abortion. Then he said to her, ‘You won’t be seeing [Laura] until after August 5 — after the abortion.’ This statement was especially scary to me, as I had not personally committed to having an abortion but had made an appointment given Mike’s insistence and pressure. I had no idea what exactly he meant by it and interpreted it as a threat that he would prevent my family from having contact with me or my son.’”
On July 6th, when Laura was reportedly in bed with their sick son, Mike allegedly returned home looking for her cell phone.
Laura said when she “got up to leave the room and picked up my cell phone, Mike, who is 6’4″ and weighs approximately 220 pounds, forcibly grabbed my phone out of my hands.”
She said she “immediately became concerned and frightened” Mike would take the phone and leave her without “any way to contact law enforcement if Mike became violent, as his threats indicated he might.” She continued:
“I attempted to grab my phone back from Mike, but I was not able to do so.”
She said Mike left the room with her phone and she followed behind him, trying to get it back. When the pair were reportedly at the top of their stairs, Mike allegedly “yelled that he was going to ‘shove me down the stairs.’”
Laura claimed she followed him out of the house, “begging” to get her phone back. Before they got outside, Mike allegedly “grabbed my body, forcibly pinned me up against the wall and held me there. After I broke free, he continued to use his arms and hands to aggressively push me away from him as he walked outside the door, still not returning my phone. Then he walked towards his pick-up truck parked outside in our driveway, shouting ‘I’m going to punch your face in.’”
Allegedly, when Mike got to his truck, he opened the driver-side door and got in. Laura said she was “right behind him, pleading with him not to leave me and Ben at the house without access to my phone.”
The car door was still open and she was standing “outside the running board/footstep directly below the driver-side door, which is approximately 12-18 inches off the ground.”
Then she claimed:
“While I was standing on there (between Mike and the open door), Mike put the truck in reverse and began to back up, and firmly said, ‘You’re f**ked.’ He then stopped the car suddenly, which nearly made me fall off the running board and caused the swinging door to almost close on me. At this point, Mike forcefully shoved me off of the running board, closed the car door and drove away with my cell phone in his possession.’”
Laura said she was “extremely traumatized from the incident and started crying hysterically. Our unborn child and I could have been severely injured if I had fallen off the truck’s running board or run over the wheels of the truck. I began to scream for help.”
She then reportedly went to a house of a friend, who drove her to a police station where she filed a police report. Laura said the officer asked her if she wanted to file for an emergency protective order but she “declined as I was fearful that I would further incite Mike and instead told the office I was going to seek safety with my parents in a nearby hotel. I am currently in the process of trying to obtain a copy of this officer’s report.”
Laura said her injuries included “bruises on the inside of my arm, a scratch on my neck, and a large tear in the dress that I was wearing on July 6th, all of which were caused by Mike’s violent behavior on July 6th.”
She is asking the court to keep Mike 100 yards away from the family home, claiming:
“I have been hiding in a hotel for the past several days with Ben, and want to be able to return home without fear for myself, my son and my unborn child.”
Laura is also asking the court to “immediately issue a Temporary Domestic Violence Restraining Order so as to prevent Mike from engaging in further physical, verbal and emotional abuse,” adding:
“I am requesting both personal conduct orders and stay away orders to ensure some level of protection against Mike’s conduct and for me and Ben to have exclusive possession of our home.”
Lawyers Samantha Spector and Lisa Meyer presented photos of the alleged attack, which was caught on security cameras.
According to Laura, Fleiss has allegedly said and done terrible things to her in the past:
“Prior to July 4th, Mike threatened me that if I did not have an abortion, he would end the marriage. This was not the first time he had threatened a divorce during our marriage, but now, he was using this threat as leverage to force me to have an abortion.”
He also allegedly said to her:
“I am cutting you off financially Monday morning.”
“You are paying for everything with your money.”
“Next time I see you, I don’t want to see your stomach.”
“You have a choice, you can choose. Have an abortion or go back to Wisconsin, but you are not taking Ben.”
“Over the past several years of our marriage, Mike has made many emotionally derogatory and demeaning comments designed to demonstrate his financial coercive control over me such as repeatedly insinuating that he would destroy me with his wealth and power. Within that last year, he has verbally abused me many times telling me that I am going to end up ‘fat and single in Kenosha, Wisconsin,’ with the usual follow-up comment of ‘Good luck with that.’ He consistently would call me ‘fat,’ telling me that I need to lose weight, and berate me as being ‘lazy’ and ‘incapable.’ He has made these comments in the presence of our son Ben. The name-calling occurred on a regular basis both inside and outside our home, often in front of other people, such as our friends, my mother, and, most importantly, Ben. The continued verbal and emotional abuse have wreaked havoc on my self-esteem. I have spent time in therapy discussing the effects upon me of Mike’s demanding and denigrating comments.’”
Additionally, she is asking for custody and protection of their son, and their family dog, Nina.
She also wants possession of their home in Hanalei, Hawaii, and for the judge to force Mike to enroll in a “batterer intervention program.”
However, on Tuesday, Mike completely denied Laura’s allegations, and said SHE was the one who attacked him!
Per court documents obtained by The Blast, Mike claimed he and Laura agreed not to have a second child, as he reportedly believed she was on birth control.
He said he “did not want to have another child as Laura had issues with emotional stability and had a difficult time caring for Ben when he was a baby.”
On Father’s Day, Laura told him she was pregnant. When he questioned her about being on birth control, he said she told him it was not always effective.
On July 3, Mike said he found out Laura allegedly lied and was never on birth control. He said he “learned that she lied to me in order to get pregnant so she could have another baby even though we agreed not to.”
Because of the alleged lie, Mike asked to see her phone, to see if she was being deceitful about other things. He said:
“I was concerned about whether there were other things she was hiding from like a relationship with another man. I wanted to be sure she was not having an affair and that the baby she was carrying was mine.”
On July 6 (the day Laura claimed Mike attacked her), he again asked to see her phone, but she refused.
After taking the phone from her, Mike said Laura “immediately attacked me so I ran out of the bedroom, down the stairs, and outside to my car.”
As he left the residence, Mike claims Laura was “pounding on me with her fists, jumping on my back, and trying to get the phone back.”
Though he admitted he eventually left and drove away, he denied ever shoving her away as he drove off, claiming he backed away slowly and eventually “she jumped back out of the truck.”
Laura used security footage as evidence of his alleged assault, but Mike claims the video backs him up.
Is he trying to give her a Bachelor villain edit? Hmm…
He also said he spoke to his estranged wife after the alleged incident, and did not learn she filed a police report against him until three days later.
Reportedly, Mike has not heard from Laura since July 9, and he has “no idea where she or Ben are.”
“Due to Laura’s historical emotional instability… I am concerned about her and our son while in her care. I want to make sure they are safe.”
According to TMZ last week, Mike filed for divorce from Laura, citing irreconcilable differences.
Per their reported prenup, he will pay her both child and spousal support, though he asked for joint legal and physical custody of their son.
The couple tied the knot in 2014 at his home in Malibu in a ceremony officiated by Bachelor host Chris Harrison.
A hearing regarding Laura’s temporary restraining order against Mike is scheduled for next month.
